How to write good articles fast

Since I started in internet marketing the one skill that I have found the most useful besides how to promote properly is creating original quality content.

After all the value you provide is generally tied to how much you earn online. since most of the value you provide if information then you need to provide the lots of high quality information.

You can never have enough original articles especially if you are doing any kind of blogging and article marketing and as Google is getting more and more slap happy with scraped and spun content. All this gets amplified the more sites you have.

If you are like me then you want to be able to pump out articles as quickly as possible.

A couple strategies I have been using with success and will never go out of style

Strategy Number 1

This first strategy I only use on blogs that aren't ranking well yet without much traffic and usually I use this on my satellite sites that lead to my main money site.

First Write a quick article focused on a long tail keyword. Add 2 or 3 main points to the article. I usually make these articles around the 250 word count. Always add an image, video, or audio. Images alone are easy to rank for and can bring some serious traffic.

If you focus on keywords with less than 20,000 competing pages in exact search then usually you can rank pretty quickly. Get a couple links and leave it.

Now what you can do is wait for the article to get some traffic organically and watch the bounce rate, comments on it or CTR of your link in the article. If bounce rate is too high obviously it needs some work. Then when you have time go back and add some more quality to it.

Strategy #2

Curate the content. This one i use on my main sites similar to the first except I don't usually have to redo the article again.

The layout of the curated content is this

long TAIL KW TITLE(have a preselected list to choose from)

INTRO PARAGRAPH (with image from different site)

Other Resources

An eBook I bought a year ago by Jason Fladien was terrific called the 7 minute article. The ebook is not hat big and looks cheesy but don't that that fool you. if you use his principals they will save you so much time.

There are also some curated content software's being release. I am currently trying out different ones hoping it will save some time. so far I m finding they are not worth the money. I find its just affective to have 2 or 3 news sites in Google alerts for broad kws to pick from or even just use Google search or news.

Other Tips

The big thing to keep in mind is urgency when you are writing. I time myself and don't worry about spelling mistakes until all main points are taken care of.

Make sure all distractions are taken care of so you can focus

Believe it or not it took me 20 minutes to write this article

Website Conversion Checklist

I watched a video from MindValley the other day under the analytics tab that talks about boosting conversions. Basically the more you improve each one of these areas will increase your conversions (quality and performance)on your site.

time on site
conversion rates(leads,sales)
page rank
inbound links
funnel conversion
open rates/ctr's
unsubscription rate/spam rate
active leads
lifetime value
consumption/ downloads

solutions found from split tests by mindvalley

1)social integrations like fb like buttons improved conversions by 2% just

2)testimonials(face book reviews work well. Its more real time and doesn't seem as made up

3)lightbox popup pages (not allowed in google AdWords)

4)using a sideways order menu increased conversions over a vertical order menu

5)free shipping especially if customers are from another country(even worked on digital products);)

6)rearrangement of order page(see video for it)

7)putting a phone number tied to a skype account increased conversion by 8%

Is it possible to make money from every keyword?

Every keyword has some traffic. Even the super long tail ones will get some broad search traffic from google once in a while.

Yes I know what your argument is with this idea. You may get lots of traffic but it wont convert or very little traffic for the good targeted keywords.

I have had this problem since I began building sites several years ago. Several sites that are celebrity sites and joke sites and image based sites which are very difficult to monetize where getting double the amount of traffic with very little effort. So I tested many different ideas on monetization with them seeing what converted the best.

These types of sites usually attract information seekers and not solution seeking buyers. These sites are popular with Facebook and other social media sites which means they will get lots of likes if i set up a fb fan page.

You can still make money from these sites however. Below I have listed some ways that I have generated income from them.

1)If you get enough traffic like 500-1000+ day you can sell ads on your site

2)google adsense and other text based advertising performs very poorly usually around .5% conversions sometimes even less. Depends on placement, color and exact topics on your site however. Infolinks has worked better for me than google adsense with these sites.

3)Go wide with marketing - promote discounts and sales on popular items like consumer electronics like ipods or clothing at well known and trusted stores like amazon, apple store etc.

4)Go Narrow with marketing - promote individual products somewhat related to what you think your core audience is.

eg. image site about bikini models. Obviously male, probably younger. May like dating advice, mens clothing cars, university courses, music electronics etc. For each one of these you can make ads

5)redirect traffic to another one of your sites that is more targeted like in the example above like a mens fashion ecommerce store or review blog.

6)Always be building a list. By far the most money I've made is via list building on these sites. Give something of value in exchange for their email address. If its a pdf on dating advice then obviously they are interested in that

Another thing to keep in mind is that when people go these types of sites which are often image based they often click thought things very quickly so their on page time is less than it is with an article. This is especially true with image sites. You have to grab their attention so don't use subtle little 250x250 boxes. Use huge boxes that have a jarring color so there is no way they can miss it.

I have found that for regular articles sites block font on white background is best but for image sites black background is better.

Hope some of these ideas have helped. Let me know what you think.

My next post will be on customer profiling. This is the key to maximizing revenue from any website if your goal is to get them into a sales funnel. Of course the other way is to trick out your site/blog with many forms of advertising with the only real intention of getting them to click on ads. is an excellent example maximizing ad space. If you get his free ebook he explains all the forms of monetization of his blog.

Internet Marketing Scam Products to Steer Clear of

I will be updating this post on a regular basis as I am getting very pissed off with all the garbage out there in the IM industry. I started this blog with 1 thing in mind. That was to create another avenue for Internet marketers to congregate and share opinions on what actually works and what doesn't. Since I started this Internet marketing thing I have had few successes and lots of failures. I have bought lots of software and non software products. Very few actually deliver on their promises. Software has given me the most headaches though.

I came across some software that was mentioned in the warrior forum that was given a good rating from a well intentioned warrior member Rhad(link to forum thread here). He gives an awesome review and breakdown of SE Nuke but later mentions Big Mikes software products.

Out of curiosity I check out Big Mikes offerings and I come across this review by Chris Elliot. Believe me he isn't selling anything in this review.

Synopsis: Stay the hell away from Big Mikes products

Have any of you bought a scam software product?

Internet marketing Systems

How to create a system for your business based on Henry Fords Model T ideas of assembly line automation.

In order to ever have any success and then grow your business you will have to create or use someone Else's business system. Henry Ford mastered building an assembly line system and in the process created the most affordable car ever at that time. Within 6 years he owned approx 40% of the auto market.

You've probably heard of automating your business to save you time and make more money. But don't put the cart before the horse. You need a system that should be mapped out first so that you know exactly step by step what you should do.

Henry Ford would divide tasks into units of work then rearrange them until everything flowed. Then he would divide the materials into slow moving and fast moving materials which would be brought to the assembly line at appropriate times.

When I first started in Internet marketing I setup a process map for it then adjusted it accordingly. They are always evolving.I implemented these ideas in my Internet marketing website/blog business by:

1)creating a system for market research
2)creating a system for kw research
3)creating a system for setting up sites/blogs and doing domain research
4)creating a system for putting in content or copy writing
5)creating a system for each traffic getting strategy eg.article marketing system, video creation and distribution system
6)created a listing building system
7)created a offer research and product creation system

So I started testing different ways of doing market research and still am today but you need to pick one and just go with it.

Once you think you have a system that will be at least moderately success full you can outsource the tasks once they are clearly defined or get software to do the grunt work. Automation and outsourcing puts your system on steroids and allows you to test the systems rapidly.

There will always be bugs in your system that you will have to work out. You should always build feedback loops into everything so its measurable to you can tell if its working or not. Analytics tools are an excellent start.

If you are not sure where to start or are like me having way too many things and just need a little clarification then start with these 5 fundamentals of business to draw insights from.

1)Number of leads- Basically you could divide this further in traffic or opt-ins or FB likes. You need a consistent stream of leads. If you are using PPC traffic you could look at things like CPA(Cost per aquisition) of each lead not just in terms or money but in terms of how much time you have to spend to aquire each lead

2)Conversions- How many leads are you converting into buyers? This can be complex. You may want to look at not just your email and article or sales copy but what sources of traffic are converting the best. Or you may want to rearrange the offer. Add more bonuses etc.

3)Average sale price- How much does the average customer buy in terms of dollar value?

4)Average number of transactions- How many transactions does the average customer make? You could combine these last 2 numbers to get you the average lifetime value of each customer which would determine the maximum amount you should spend in acquisition of each customer.

5)Profit Margins-Are you charging enough for each product? Is there a way to increase the prices by maybe adding a little more value or finding a new audience for your product?

I have created different systems for my eCommerce sites and other projects as well.

Does original content really attract more traffic than aggregated?

If your a seasoned blogger or have taken any courses on blogging you've probably heard time and time again that you should write the highest original quality relevant content and optimize it for the search engines. This strategy does work but it also takes a lot of time. A blogger can build up a loyal following if their voice resonates with the readers.

If you have multiple sites/blogs and want to scale it out as an actual business then this can get very expensive since you'll have to hire decent writers.

On the other hand you could go in the footsteps of some of the most popular blogs and aggregate some, most or even all your content on the net like the or or the These blogs rank very high for some broad kws and some long tail ones or get a large part of their traffic from other sources than the big "G".

There was an excellent post i read the other day that i think clearly defines the difference in strategies between the two called "Publishing, aggregation and “The Innovator’s Dilemma” The biggest take away i got from this was
" News consumers are mainly interested in news coverage, not content. Coverage is a service that promises to keep its users "in the loop" about what is relevant to them and their peer groups. It is delivered by selecting content on readers' behalf – i.e. through aggregation and curation – and while it relies on content it is more than that. Because it is an ongoing, day-to-day service, coverage is all about loyalty: once consumers find a provider they like, they come back to it. And because of hyperlinks, in the web coverage providers need not be content providers (and vice-versa). This means that media brands' power – including their pricing power – will increasingly be a matter of how well they aggregate content – whatever its source – and not just how good their content is."

Matt Cutts on the future of SEO in Google

Last Friday Matt Cutts of google was at a panel discussion last week at the SXSW and let a bomb drop.

"What about the people optimizing really hard and doing a lot of SEO. We don't normally pre-announce changes but there is something we are working in the last few months and hope to release it in the next months or few weeks. We are trying to level the playing field a bit. All those people doing, for lack of a better word, over optimization or overly SEO - versus those making great content and great site. We are trying to make GoogleBot smarter, make our relevance better, and we are also looking for those who abuse it, like too many keywords on a page, or exchange way too many links or go well beyond what you normally expect. We have several engineers on my team working on this right now."

If you are a thin affiliate your days are numbered. Time to focus on high quality authority sites and be careful with your linking strategy

Listen to the whole panel discussion

Have you been affected by the new panda updates this year? I know a lot of people have. That's why you need a diversified traffic plan. Too many people have an SEO centric strategy but you can see now that's risky business. Keep reading this blog and I'll show you many strategies for getting traffic. Some involve SEO shortcuts but the majority will not. I've already gotten screwed over by Google in adwords too many times and learned my lesson the hard way.
